Connected handwriting practice

Practice cursive words and sentences

Start with a few letter joins, try short words, and then write a sentence that fits on one line. Enter any example in the guided worksheet maker and print Trace or Copy rows.

Make a worksheet

A short practice sequence

  1. Try letter joins

Use pairs and tiny words such as an am in it on or to see connected letters without filling the whole line. The alphabet worksheet has this Common joins starter if you want to begin there.

  2. Write short words and a phrase

Enter a few familiar words such as rain sun moon, or use the Word phrase starter, after the rain the garden blooms. Shorten the line if letters wrap in the preview. You can replace the examples with names or spelling words that matter to you.

  3. Build a sentence

Try a short sentence such as Maya writes a note. The guided maker also has a longer Sentence starter; edit it to fit the page. Check spacing, joins, and whether the complete sentence stays inside the practice row.

Choose how to practice

Trace repeats pale lettering on each selected row. Copy shows one dark example followed by the number of blank guided practice rows you choose. Start with a size that keeps the whole line readable, then switch modes as needed. The font is a visual practice aid, not a stroke-order lesson.

Check the print before sharing

The on-screen sheet is scaled to fit your device. Choose US Letter or A4 in the maker, then check the same paper size, margins, scale, and page count in your browser print dialog. If a sentence wraps or splits, shorten it, reduce the text size, or use fewer rows. Follow the cursive worksheet printing guide for the full checklist.

The worksheet prints from your browser; this page does not produce a PDF file or save your text on a server. For decorative characters to paste into a message, use the separate Unicode cursive generator.
